Brighthelm Mission Group
“We are to bring colour, compassion and creativity, empowered by the Holy Spirit so that we can also bring real change to the lives of people that come into the garden and the building.”
We are focused on the central Brighton area, seeking to spread our love and faith in God amongst the community for which we care. On mission Sundays, we meet at Brighthelm from 10.30-11.30am to pray for the area. However, we have a number of other events on which we are focusing in order to have a tangible impact in our locale, including Drop-In and Oasis. The Mission Group has four areas in which we are working at the moment:
- Blessing: to bring blessing upon the people, the land and the communities around Brighthelm, by what we do, how we act and how we interact.
- Drop–In: to run the Drop–In project in partnership with Brighthelm Church, which feeds materially, befriends and also ministers to those whom it serves. (1st Sunday of every month in Brighthelm Cafe, 13:00-14:30)
- Oasis: to display and demonstrate the love of God in the Brighthelm gardens by worshipping, blessing and interceding for those who frequent them. This is done through Movement, Drumming, spiritual insight, and dream interpretation.
- To nourish and amplify our relationship with the URC, in whose building we meet, and to support their congregation by attending their prayer meetings and interacting with them on a daily basis.
