MORNING MEETINGS

Our meetings have a relaxed feel starting with a time of worship, prayer, and teaching, followed by drinks. Most of our meetings last around 1.5 hrs.  We sometimes have a group for the children. We use a number of venues for our Sunday meetings and follow a monthly rhythm for this:

1st Sunday of the month: Mission Sunday – Drop In 1pm @ Brighthelm Community Centre and Messy Church 4pm@ The Gathering Place, Hollingbury

2nd Sunday of the month: Altogether Meeting, 10.30am @ Crowhurst Community Centre, behind Knoyle Hall, Knoyle Road, BN1 6RB

3rd Sunday of the month: Meeting in two places – 10am @ The Dip and 10.30am @ The Gathering Place.

4th Sunday of the month: Altogether meeting 10.30am @ The Dip

5th Sunday of the month: Creative Sunday – changing activities

MISSION SUNDAYS

On the first Sunday of each month, we have what we call a ‘Mission Sunday’ where the church meets in geographically based groups to focus on their local areas: Hollingbury and central Brighton.

Drop In @ Brighthelm Community Centre

Come and join us at Brighthelm Community Centre on the first Sunday of every month for nutritious food in a warm and welcoming environment.

Between 1.00-2.30pm volunteers serve subsidised food and drinks to people who would otherwise have few places to go. Meals are prepared in advance, and customers can receive a hot main meal, dessert and unlimited hot drinks. There are usually 40-60 customers each week. It’s a great opportunity to come and eat, relax and make new friends. Everyone welcome!

Time and location: 1.00 to 2.30 on the first Sunday of each month, Brighthelm Community Centre, North Road, Brighton.

Hollingbury Mission Group: Messy Church

Hollingbury Messy Church is a fun two hours together, with arts and crafts, games, songs and stories, and a meal together at the end. All ages are welcome.

Time and location: 16.00-18.00pm on Mission Sundays (first Sunday of each month), The Gathering Place, 1 Orchid View, Stanmer Heights, Brighton, BN1 8GP

SMALL GROUP SUNDAYS

On the third Sunday of the month, we have ‘Small Group Sundays’.  The aim is to create space to encounter God, within a smaller group setting and connect with our local communities in Hollingbury and Hollingdean, for friendship, worship and prayer.

We meet in 2 venues around the city of Brighton:

  • Hollingdean @TheDIP: 119D Hollingdean Terrace, BN1 7HB; meeting at 10am
  • Hollingbury @The Gathering Place: 1 Orchid View, Stanmer Heights, Brighton BN1 8GP; meeting at 10.30am

…STEPPING BEYOND

We continue to hold our ‘…Stepping Beyond—Creative Worship’ events on occasional Saturday evenings.  Guest musicians, Rhythm Makers, DJs and friends join us for creative worship using music, percussion, movement and art.

TAIZE

Every Monday evening—except for bank holidays—we hold a Taize meeting.

Taize is a monastery in France existing since the 1940s with brothers from Catholic and Protestant traditions, and some small communities of brothers living amongst the poor in Brazil, Bangladesh, Korea, Senegal, and Kenya. Their style of worship is contemplative always with a time of silence, and the beauty of simple four part harmony chants repeated many times. We follow this pattern on Mondays sharing songs, silence, readings, prayers and communion with each other every week. If you want to try something mediational and reflective then do come along!
